the questions asked. The Personal Reference Verification attempts a
reference from a single specified contact such as a friend or
associate. The Professional Reference Verification attempts a
reference from a single specified contact such as a co-worker or
direct supervisor. Reference Questions

The Personal Reference Verification
includes such information as:
- How long the
applicant has been known
- Relationship with the
applicant
- Has he/she ever
worked with the applicant
- What was the nature
of the applicant's job and/or duties
- What would he/she say
is the applicant's strengths and weaknesses
- Is the applicant
known to be punctual
- Is the applicant
reliable
- Does the applicant
communicate well
- Does the applicant
have technical skill and what are they
The Professional Reference Verification
includes such information as:
- How long he/she has
known the applicant
- What was the
applicant’s job and the nature of his/her
duties
- Does the applicant
carryout tasks
- Greatest strength of
the applicant
- What could the
applicant do to improve their job
performance
- Did the applicant
show initiative or leadership in his/her job
- Dependability of the
applicant
- The applicant's
relationships with peers
- Did the applicant
show any propensity for violence or
dishonesty in the workforce
- If responsible for
the hiring process, would he/she consider
the applicant eligible for rehire
